Sorry I haven't had much time lately. I haven't had time for writing to anyone either. I hope people will understand and have some patience with me. We have been busy here.
We went to Busch gardens yesterday and enjoyed our last day of the season there ( we had a 4 day pass). Ethan had a great time ended up being a very hot day and our car( the AC is broken) was crazy hot for the ride home. I wanted to stick my head out the window.
I have had some new wins in the last few days . I won a 12 pack of CD's from Miller Lite. Not sure which ones yet but I can always trade them. A tshirt from Coke, an RIO Sonicblue MP3/CD player and a Dj case. and a REEBOK hat . I love this hobby! Some people think I am nuts but I have a lot of fun with it. Free stuff is always fun!

Surviving Isabel
It wasn't hard at all ,actually. We were preparerd and our little neighbourhood wasn't hit very hard. There were no trees down but alot of branches on the ground and shutters had flown off. We were thinking that the radio must be exaggerating. We had no power since 10 in the morning that day so we couldn't see any of it on television. We went out later that afternoon to see if the house we just bought made it through. It was just fine but the neighbourhood was a wreck! Power lines down everywhere, cars demolished by trees, unbelievable. On our way back we saw the roofs of a Denny's restaurant and a Dunkin Donuts were ripped right off. Giant store signs on metal poles were bent right backwards. I guess we were really lucky! It was an amazing thing to see in front of your own eyes. Everywhere you went stores were boarded up it seemed lik a ghost town except there was cars everywhere.
The power was out for us for 3 days but some people still don't have power. The local chain of grocery stores called Harris Teeter were giving away free bottles of drinking water and ice for everyone. It ws a really great ting for them to do!
Anyway I am glad it was all over. Something else weird happened yesterday but I will write about tht another time.

All Ready..
So we have decided to stick it out here . We are not in a major flood area and think everything should be okay. They have had mandatory evacuation in different areas of the city but we ae not in one of them. We do have an address for one of the shelters in case if it we decide to go but I think we will be more comfortable here. Winds are already very strong and we have seen some branches breaking off trees and it won't really start 'til tomorrow morning! Any other news? The last house we put an offer on : we got it! They accepted our offer. It is in a great neighbourhood wit lots in the area for Ethan and I to do!
Well i guess we better shut down this 'puter soon. No more posts for a few days at least!

Still Waiting...
Looks like Isabel is heading more south of us, but we will still get some of it. we are under hurricane watch now and will probably still get some tropical storms. We are more concerned with flooding then anything at this point and still have not made a decision of we are leaving or staying. The fact that the storm has gone down considerably is good, so we may stay. we will have to make a decision by tomorrow morning. We have already startred preparing for the storm. Taping windows, securing and taking down everything with glass, securing everything we can, etc. Sorry I f I hadn't had enough time to write anyone back. Talk to you all soon,
Julie

Preparing for Isabel
I never realized how much work a hurricane could be. Stores are out of batteries. Everyone has already stocked up. Alex has booked a hotel further inland in case of evacuation and we have already packed some stuff in a bag and are making plans for all the situations. I think the worst part of this stage is the wondering and waiting to see where it is going and what strength it will be. It is definately a new experience for me. I hope it doesn't come this way and veers off somewhere. I would hate to think of what will happen.
Wish us luck!
I also want to say some words about a cat that used to be mine. I had him as a kitten and gave him away to a very good friend ( my best friend) and he got sick shortly thereafter. My friend nursed him back to health and has been the best "mother " to him since. He died this morning after being put to sleep when surgery had found that he had a tumor on his pancreas. He was a wonderful cat and will be missed.

WATCHING ISABEL
Everyone here is getting ready for Hurricane Isabel. We might not even get it but it looks probable that we will get some of it anyway. Apparently People were flooding in the grocery stores, stocking up on supplies and oceanfront shops and businesses are getting ready to board up the windows. I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.

Today was a good day for us. Ethan went to a "babysitters" for a few hours and Alex and I went driving around to see some neighbourhoods where houses were. Have our eye on one. Location is great as there is an elementary school and a park within a few blocks and some other things in the area. Then we went to the mall for a look around the mall and I found a digital camera for a great price and dicided to splurge on it. It enden up being a really great deal as it was only the display model left so they threw in a 64 MB memory card and a usb cable and an extended warranty so I think I did good. So expect many more pics once I can figure out how to use it.
Ethan had a great time at the babysitter's . They went to Chuck E Cheese and apparently had a blast. He played lots of games. I am sorry that we had to miss it though. Nothing else to report.

Well today is a sad day in remembrance of the WTC attacks. It is also a sad day personally for me as It was a year ago this morning that I last saw my father alive. He brought us to the airport very early in the morning and hung around with Ethan and I until it was time for us to go through the gates. He gave us hugs and I remember hugging him extra long and reminding him how much we loved him. I didn't want to walk away but I knew we had to. Less than 2 months later he had a heart attack and died. I miss him very much and wish I could tell him. Ethan knows that his grandpa died but doesn't really understand. The other day when he saw a picture of "Grampa". He asked if he if Daddy could fix him so we could see him again. I just told him that I wish Daddy could.

So, I found out that Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas do the voices for the moose in Brother Bear. You know, Bob and Doug Mckenzie. Yip, Canadians. I should have known. It did sound like them.
News on the house? Nope, we are going to keep on looking.
Good news is that I received a notification of a win today. This was a contest that ended way back in April. It was from Cadbury and they gave away 10- 36" plush rabbits a week. Where we are going to put this sucker, I don't know. I guess Alex is going to have to find somewhere else to sleep!!

I can't wait to see the new Disney movie Brother Bear! It looks really good and has Moose with Canadian accents. It looks real cute. Occasionally there is a movie that I can't wait to take Ethan to and this is one of them Still waiting to see what happens with the house. Ethan went back for his speech today. At first I wasn't sure how he was going to be with it because he said he didn't want to go ut as soon as he saw the school bus he went running with a big smile on his face. I am glad he still likes it. Back to a routine again.

OUR TRIP - We had a great time visiting with everyone including my friend Vicky. It was a little too short though. We had a nice side trip up to Haliburton and stayed a ahotel downtown for some of the time.
THE WEDDING- Awesome! It was so good to see Vicky so happy! She was absolutely stunning in her wedding dress and she married a really great guy. I am so happy for her.
NEW WINS- I came back to a couple of parcels, another Redken hair product ( I seem to win alot of those) and a Courier bag from Coke. I also got a phone call the other day from Entertainment Tonight online and they said I won first prize in their Charlie's Angel sweeps and it shoudl be arriving in 3 weeks. I also win another Phillips Boombox last night. That is 2 of them so far. Woohoo!
Ohter News- Ethan starts his "school again tomorrow morning and we are putting in an offer on a house. Not getting our hopes up though as we are really lowballing them. It needs alot of work but the area is great. It has 3 bedrooms and a den as well as Living room/dining room in a ranch style house. Wish us luck! I wil say alittle more when I know more.
